Change is hard, but being aware of the emotional roller coaster that awaits you will set you up for success. So, let’s take a look at the 5 Emotional Cycles of Change (ECOC) as listed in Brian Moran’s book, “The 12 Week Year.”

Uninformed Optimism
You start to imagine the benefits of change, but see none of the struggle that lies ahead.

Informed Pessimism
As you learn more about the reality of what it will take to change, negativity starts to seep in and your mood begins to shift.

Valley of Despair
You’ve put up with just about all of the discomfort you can bare. And honestly… Was it even that bad before you decided to change?

Informed Optimism
You didn’t give up, so your hard work and sacrifice are starting to pay off.

Success and Fulfillment
You did it! What was initially difficult and uncomfortable has become second nature. And you feel the satisfaction and fulfillment that comes with success.
